Anyone else try this? High strength and blocking with fair receiving skills. He lines up at both FB and TE, blocks well in both positions, catches and carries every now and then.

It's going to take longer to fill out his receiving abilities since there are a ton of areas that need SP. I'm just curious if anyone else has built a guy who plays both positions and how you've done?

Yes.

I actually have been running 3 TEs on my team.

TE1
TE2/FB2 (H Back)
TE3/WR4 (Flex TE/Slot Receiver)

H back is a tricky build. I have a new one coming, I have been tweaking a receiving TE on another team to fill the role for me next season.

I think receiving tree (and ignoring blocking) is the way to go so you have enough SP to get speed, agility, strength, vision, and catching all high enough to be effective in both roles.

Yeah, I ended up using the blocking tree more since that's my player's primary role. My initial plan was to made what basically amounts to a more mobile 3rd OT. I had a receiving OT for awhile that lined up at TE, but the OOP penalty was great enough that it really hindered his ability to catch passes more than you could compensate for. So my original intention was to build a TE as a more mobile 3rd OT, but he ended up being an effective FB as well and still gets all the natural bonuses to keep his receiving attributes moving.

Yeah. I can understand the build and the philosophy.

I went with receiving because I think the combination of strength, speed and agility that makes a TE a good receiver can also make them a solid blocker.

I suppose my H Back build isn't so much a blocker, but a phenomenal athlete that can block.
