Another great week with some close one's and another upset from Carthage to add in for good measure. No rankings from me until Week 15 on Monday evening - I'm off to Sweden for the weekend
1 (1) Woodridge Lumberjacks (10-2)
Woodridge survived a fourth quarter comeback attempt by Chicago, doing enough for the win like all good teams do. Their winning streak is extended to 9 games.
2 (3) Toledo Swords (8-4)
Toledo wins this week in a shootout against Lake Charles after going in behind at the half. Outscoring their opponents 21-6 in the second half moved them to 8-4, setting things up for my Game of the Week next against Paris.
3 (4) Wembley Warriors (8-4)
The Warriors bounced back after their disappointing loss against Paris with a win over FTA, extending their winning streak against the Aggies to five games. Their schedule in the last four games is potentially one of the kindest and they'll look to try and lock up 2nd spot.
4 (2) Paris Philarmonic (9-3)
Paris becomes the third team in a row to be upset by Carthage. They've never won by a particularly comfortable margin (other than Richmond) so I suppose there was always the chance that they might suffer this type of loss. They'll be tested this week against Toledo.
5 (5) London Monarchs (8-4)
The Monarchs look to have found their feet again, winning back-to-back. An impressive defensive display allowed them to see off the Mercs with relative ease. Now they look to take advantage of Valhalla's troubles in their next matchup.
6 (6) E-City Mercenaries (7-5)
The Mercs started brightly against the Monarchs this week before their offense imploded, turning the ball over 3 times, resulting in 14 points for London. They'll safely move to 8-5 with their 'gimme' game next against the Renegades.
7 (8) Berlin Blitzkrieg (7-5)
Berlin emerges victorious this week but barely, putting an end to a 3-game skid that threatened to throw their playoff plans off track. They'll face Woodridge next and I can't see anything other than a loss.
8 (9) Aberdeen Wrecking Crew (7-5)
They love the close games and AWC did just enough to beat Valhalla by a point with a 20-yard TD pass inside of 2 minutes, moving their record to 7-5. There'll be an interesting matchup with Wembley next up - they'll go in as underdogs this week. Will they be able to keep it close or will inconsistency strike again?
9 (7) Chicago Rocks (6-6)
Chicago put in a respectable performance and may well have produced the upset against the Lumberjacks this week but it wasn;t to be. They face Blackpool followed by a tricky 3-game stretch so playoffs could be touch and go for them.
10 (11) Carthage Army Of Darkness (5-7)
And they've done it again. Carthage wins 3 straight, two of which came against opposition that would be described as far superior. They ended Paris' 8 game winning streak with yet another awesome defensive display. I'll write them off against FTA next week and see if it happens again
11 (10) Fightin' Texas Aggies (5-7)
They couldn't break their duck against Wembley but FTA could still finish 8-8 at the very least which may be enough to sneak a playoff spot.
12 (12) Lake Charles Who Dats (5-7)
After starting out the season with so much promise, beginning 3-0, the Who Dats have now lost 7 of their last 9 and will probably be disappointed come the end of the season when it's likely they'll be under .500
13 (13) Valhalla Vikings (5-7)
Well, the full extent of Valhalla's situation came to light this week and considering their performance this season, it was less than surprising. They were narrowly beaten by Aberdeen - after taking the lead with under two minutes to go, they quickly relinquished it, giving up a score in just over 30 seconds.
14 (14) Stuttgart Nighthawks (5-7)
Stuttgart almost condemned Berlin to its fourth straight loss. They'll be disappointed that they weren't able to put the German outfit away, outgaining them by over 100 yards and the game would have been theirs were it not for them giving up a TD to lose the game with 17 seconds left on the clock.
15 (15) Blackpool Mountain Lions (1-15)
Blackpool wins the 'Cupcake Bowl' to pick up their first win of the season.
16 (16) Richmond Renegades (0-16)
Richmond is now one away from losing twenty straight games. They finally manage to hold a team under 100 points, albeit against Blackpool.
