1) Tulsa Teamsters (last week #2)
I really didn't think Tulsa would take the top spot this week. Having already beaten ISB, and having humiliated French Lick, I thought Fremont was safe. Tulsa put on one of the most dominant displays I've ever seen, in beating a very strong Island Shaka Brah's team 47-7. They deserve this spot, but cannot rest on their laurels; they face a solid but inconsistent squad in the RiverRats this week.
2) Fremont Warriors (last week #1)
Fremont did nothing to deserve losing the #1 spot. Unfortunately, Tulsa's performance was nothing short of brilliant. Can Fremont earn the spot back with a solid win over Walla Walla this week in the **Game of the Week**? Will that be enough?
3) Walla Walla Wackers (last week #4)
Walla Walla has one more win than #3 Island Shaka Brah's, but the two have very similar resumes. Each got blown out by Tulsa, and each has won most of their games quite impressively. Walla Walla gets a chance to solidify their spot above Island Shaka Brah's today, as they face off against #2 Fremont Warriors in the **Game of the Week**
4) Island Shaka Brah's (last week #3)
Despite getting destroyed by Tulsa last week, ISB deserves this spot; apparently the gap between #1 and #4 is just that big, which really does not bode well for the bottom half of the playoff bracket. Island Shaka Brah's get a chance to recover against the Smash Mouth Silverbacks, whose scoreboard is broken and only adds up to 255. Let's hope ISB can exceed that number.
5) LaCrosse River Rats (last week #5)
LaCrosse beat a decent South Georgia team by 25 last week, but the tough matchups are ahead. Tulsa and ISB in the next two weeks will go a long way to determining if LaCrosse can make a break toward the top of the league standings.
6) French Lick Liquors (last week #6)
French Lick is in the middle of its two-game hiatus. They crushed Smash Mouth Silverbacks in the infamous broken scoreboard game, and play the Rhode Island Revolutionaries this week. After that, the Liquors next test: #3 Walla Walla.
7) Las Vegas Villians (last week #8)
Las Vegas is in the playoffs as of right now, and they can take a big step to making things stay that way against South Georgia. Thus far they've won the games they're supposed to win and lost the games where they're outmatched. This one may be a test of tactics.
8) South Georgia Growl(last week #7)
South Georgia is on a 3 game losing streak, and although today's game against Las Vegas is winnable, it won't be easy. Beyond that, things get a little easier, and they should handle the Tulsa Doom to end their losing streak if it still exists after today's game.
9) Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers (last week #10)
Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers have been up and down all season, most recently beating the Tulsa Doom in a meaningless game. They play the Washington Blitz this week in a game with strong playoff implications, and I'm very interested to see which Hobbs team shows up to play.
10) Washington Blitz (last week #9)
Like Hobbs, Washington is coming off a strong win over a weaker team. Whoever wins this game will have greatly enhanced their chance to make the playoffs, so the stakes are high for both teams. They don't really have a shot to get a home game, but even making the playoffs is a big deal, especially now that Bort has proposed playoff revenue sharing.
11) Tulsa Doom (last week #11)
The Tulsa Doom have made a living from beating the worst teams in the conference. They get a slightly better team today in the Lone Star Leopards, and need this win to keep up their role as a dark horse to make the playoffs.
12) Lone Star Leopards (last week #12)
Lone Star is a better team than their 1-7 record shows. They get a chance to prove that today against the overrated Tulsa Doom.
13) Chicago Shockers (last week #13)
Could the Shockers finally get their first win? They should, as they face the Starkville Cows. And they better score as many times as they can, because Fremont is following Starkville, and not many points get scored when Fremont comes to town.
14) Rhode Island Revolutionaries (last week #14)
Rhode Island took a tough loss against Fremont last week, and things don't get any better this week against French Lick. Eh well, there's always the Smash Mouth Silverbacks in 2 weeks. They seem to cure everybody's ailments.
15) Starkville Cows(last week #15)
Starkville suffered through a heart-wrenching loss to the Revolutionaries two weeks ago. Are they in for another one today against the Chicago Shockers? Or can they pull together and put notch #2 in their belts?
16) Smash Mouth Silverbacks (last week #16)
No seriously...wat?
