Seeing as no-one's really doing any now, I thought I'd come up with some rankings for Alpha. At the moment they're a bit of a summary of the season so far but if I carry on doing them, the description will relate to that particular week. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong or add your own
1. Woodridge Lumberjacks (7-2)
After losing 2 of their opening 3 contests it was proved that the WuJacks weren't as invincible as many people had previously perceived. However since starting 1-2, the Lumberjacks have won six straight games and are giving up an average of less than one TD per game on defense. Will it be the threepeat for Woodridge?
2. Paris Philarmonic (7-2)
Like Woodridge, Paris started the season at 1-2. Since then, they've quietly worked their way up the standings with an impressive six game winning streak.
3. Wembley Warriors (6-3)
The Warriors look to have returned to the sort of form that almost won them the WEPL Championship in Season One. This week they beat Berlin to add to their credentials of a title challenging side.
4. Berlin Blitzkrieg (6-3)
At 6-3, Berlin remain one of the strongest teams in the conference. They've been impressive in victories against Valhalla, AWC and FTA, and their 3 losses have all been fairly close games against other strong opposition.
5. London Monarchs (6-3)
After missing out on the playoffs for the first time last season the Monarchs, led by their underrated QB, Chase Daniel
, look to have found more consistency this season. Their next game against Woodridge should provide them with a difficult test of character.
6. Chicago Rocks (5-4)
My sleeper team - with a little bit of luck, Chicago might well have been 8-1 right now with 3 of their 4 losses being by a combined 10 points. Up next, an interesting matchup with Toledo.
7. Toledo Swords (5-4)
Riding a 4-game winning streak, some might say Toledo are surprising a few people at the moment. After starting off at 1-3, the Swords have come back strong but their schedule doesn't get any easier and an interconference game against reiging Zeta conference champions Rotterdam, might make all the difference when it comes to making the playoffs.
8. Lake Charles Who Dats (5-4)
The Who Dats are having a solid season, with their only blip being a fairly big loss to Chicago Rocks, Their schedule looks fairly kind down the back end of the season and if their in-form QB, Randy Floyd continues to play as he has done, they should rise up the rankings and make the playoffs.
9. Valhalla Vikings (5-4)
Well, I never thought I'd see Valhalla down this low in a power ranking, but the Vikings don't seem like the same team this season. After starting at 3-0, it looked like it was business as usual for the Vikings, but they've hardly dominated games and since a shock blowout loss against Berlin, have struggled.
10. E-City Mercenaries (5-4)
After rushing out to an impressive 5-1 start, the Mercs have stuttered and lost 3 straight, although 2 of those have come against in-form Toledo and WuJax sides. Wins in upcoming games against the Monarchs and Valhalla would put them in a strong position coming down the final stretch at the end of the season.
11. Aberdeen Wrecking Crew (5-4)
Seemingly plagued by inconsistency, there's no knowing which AWC team will show up. They've been in a few close ones this season and lost a heartbreaker this week in OT to Lake Charles.
12. Fightin' Texas Aggies (4-5)
Since opening the season with a victory over Woodridge, FTA have disappointed, their only impressive victory being in game 8 when they came back from 17 points down and held on to beat Lake Charles.
13. Stuttgart Nighthawks (4-5)
A team just below the so-called bubble teams, Stuttgart have the weapons to keep some games close but ultimately they probably aren't going to challenge for the playoffs at this moment in time.
14. Carthage Army of Darkness (2-7)
Another team who when on their game can run a team close, but don't have the strength in depth or personnel to be truly competitive.
15. Blackpool Mountain Lions (0-9)
Blackpool are just a few pieces away from really being able to start being competitive in the Pro League. They're certainly no pushovers these days and gave Valhalla a scare this week threatening to comeback in the 4th quarter.
16. Richmond Renegades (0-9)
The pretty much already relegated Renegades continue their streak of conceding over 100 points in every game this season.
