Hey guys-
So going in a new direction with my power rankings to make sure everyone is happy. I’m typing this up in Word, then copy and pasting it to GLB. Hopefully this will make for a more enjoyable experience for all those involved. I’ll also be having a “team” of the week. This will be a subjective grats to a team that might not otherwise receive attention. Anyway…
We had some CRAZY games since Week 6. RGB was knocked from the ranks of the unbeatens, we’ll have YET another new number 1 team, and a new team joins the ranks of title contenders. The top 5 in this league are fairly closely matched and I feel like any of them could pull an upset come playoff time and really shake up in Champion of this league.
Team of the Week-
San Diego Blaze- Did anyone see the upsetting the Legends AND Fresno? The Blaze had a great week. They are showing the league that this is more than a 5 horse race. Grats…
Title Contenders
1. Anchorage Maulers- (+2) The Maulers retain their ranking atop the newest version of the power rankings. The game with RGB was closer than the final score indicated, but head to head, I doubt there is anyone that would be favored against these guys. With wins against Fresno, Chicago, RGB, and Las Vegas, these guys have put together the best resume thus far.
2. Tallahassee Teabaggers- (+1) The Teabaggers have the most impressive win thus far, beating Anchorage 21-20 in one of the best games of the year. It’s tough to put them over RGB, seeing as RGB handed them their only loss of the season, but in a head to head match-up, I think I’d still have to roll with these guys. I’d love to see a Mauler-Teabagger rematch.
3. RGB Berzerk- (-2) Have certainly shown they are more than capable of beating anyone of a given day, but I still think top to bottom, RGB is just a small step behind the top two teams. These guys should be able to finish the season on a 9 game winning streak and due to various tie-breaker end up with the number 1 seed come playoff time.
Could beat anyone on a given day…
4. Fresno Jaguars-(0) Where do I put Fresno? They have lost to Anchorage, RGB, and Tallahassee by a combined 17 points. They beat Chicago by 14, then go and lose by 14 points to… San Diego? What is going on here? I think Fresno slept on this team a bit, I’m not ready to move Fresno down, but for now I’m going to keep them right where they are.
5. Chicago Thunder- (0) So Fresno lost to San Diego, Chicago lost to Fresno. That mean San Diego should move above right… Not so fast my friend. Chicago has been in striking distance of a big upset all year only to fall just short. Luckily we get to settle this on the field, but I think most people would say that Chicago will be favored on the road in San Diego.
6. San Diego Blaze- (+2) I’d like to pat myself on the back for this one…. “Wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled the upset.” So I called the upset of Las Vegas… but did anyone see them beating Fresno? Crazy stuff in BBB 13 and it looks like there is a lot more parity than we believed. A week 10 matchup against 5th ranked Chicago will determine who gets a shot at playing the 4th seed in the first round of the playoffs. They’ve got plenty of time to prove they are as good as their 7-1 record. Schedule gets much tougher from here on out. Loss to Roswell seems quite out of place.
Locks for the playoffs, but out of title contention....
7. Las Vegas Legends (-1) These guys haven’t looked good all year. LV has officially taken a step back from their once dominant self.
8. Roswell Space Pirates- (0) Win over San Diego looks quite impressive now. Jury is still out on whether guys can compete with top tier teams. Three more wins locks them into the playoffs. They should be able to get there, before a tough schedule eats them alive.
Outside looking in...
9. So.Cal Beach Bums-(0) Go ahead and pencil in three more losses for these guys. Should be able to finish up around .500.
10. Philadelphia Demonik- (0) Interesting game coming up against Las Vegas. Win and you can start talking about playoffs. Lose and they are defiantly out. My prediction? Vick to Casado over and over again.
Dreaming of playoffs, not happening this year.
11. Houston Space Cowboys- (0) One more game before they hit the meat of their schedule. Thin LB core will make it hard for them to come up with any kind of defensive identity.
Looking for a clue…..
12. Port Moresby Trucks- (0) These guys have got a pretty good shot of being the next “Most Improved Team.” Solid QB and HB, with a pretty even distribution of levels should give them depth for the future, just need to take care of the agents and find some start players.
13. Springville Renagades- (+2) My bad guys. Sorry about mixing up the score. 13th is about the right place for you guys.
14. RAVING MAD DAWGS-(0) Still surprised a team could fall so quickly. They’ve got a new owner though, welcome aboard. PLENTY of cash to make a quick impact. With the right owner, this team could be back by next season. Tough game against Chicago up next.
15. Scranton Scoring Midgets- (-2) Just keeps getting worse for these guys. I’m pretty sure a win at Phoenix ill be the only chance at avoiding a winless season.
16. Phoenix Resurrection- (0 Owner is gone, players have been sold off. No GM. Just sad.
Man almost 3 pages worth of typing, hope you all enjoyed.
Just my two cents…
