A lot of people around here are under the impression that the only way to not get pancaked is to pump Strength to the softcap right away.

That is 100% false.

Strength isn't the only attribute that contributes to not getting pancaked. Agility plays just as much, if not even more of a role in not getting pancaked.

It makes perfect sense if you just think about it. Our dots are still people. Do you seriously believe that somebody who is 4x as agile as the super strong dude standing in front of them is just going to let that strong guy knock them on their ass? Hell no. They're going to go around him.

Those of you who have 80-90 strength that can't figure out why you can't get any pressure, it's because you're basically at a stalemate with your offensive line counterpart. Every interior offensive lineman on GLB, namely centers, are going to beat you in the Strength category I'd say about 95% of the time. Cs get 1 full point in STR every time they level up, while you get .66. A center who softcaps Strength at level 2(which is possible, as you can roll a 28 STR as a C, so 28+15+1+5=49) will end up with 60 STR at level 13 without putting a single point into it after that point. A DT can cap STR as early as level 3(roll a 24 STR, 24+15+1.32+8=48.32, +2=49.32). If they don't touch STR after that, at level 13, they'll have a whopping 56 STR, a full 4 less points than the C who only half blocks him, along with the RG.

I'll end this post with these words: A good DT is never going to have more STR than a good C.

This just gave me a completely random thought... what's the real life equivalent of somebody with 90 agility and 10 speed? That just seems like a funny image... moving really fast but not actually going anywhere?

Imagine the old Scooby Doo cartoons where their legs would be cyclones and they'd just hover in the air for a few seconds before taking off.

Kind of like that, but without the taking off part.

Oh, you know. That guy. You know. The one with the player, the one who plays on the team with the record in the division.

Yes I think a lot of people are starting to realize that speed and agility > strength in pass rushing. I have never seen an all strength DT/DE get sacks.

I just recently changed my equipment on my DT to more agility than just strength and not I'm getting speed up. I've already seen a huge difference and I put it on evasive pass rushing and I seen a big improvement.

They don't have to be just as agile just be agile period and so long as they have plenty of Str and blocking to go along with it they can do fairly well to neutralize the one dimension speed DEs, now the reason why the build is so effective is that there is plenty of people who still ignore agility on the oline. Now I'll say that I haven't seen many well built speed DEs, but I still doubt that my OT will get beat often against an DE of comparable level.

It is just a cycle of dominance, earlier it was the exact opposite where people ignore the str and blocking and the strength based DEs were just steamrolling the opposing weaker OTs, soon people will adjust and work agility to a decent level as well.

You mean the Hustlers? We're a slow build team. Everybody on that team is level 5 and under right now. Thanks for trying to inconvenience my day, though.

No, I was talking about the guy who is saying he is having a decent season because of his high strength.
