I'm curious as to what everyone thinks the current definition of "powerback" is. I know what it used to be.

I'm hating my powerback this year. I don't understand how a back with piled on SAs, capped carrying and high 80 strength can break so few tackles.

The definition of a Power back is a back with higher STR than any other attribute. When I say higher, I don't mean 1 higher...I mean at least 20 more STR than any other attribute.

Is anyone else finding that compared to last season, their power back isn't making plays nearly as well? I know that I'm SA-heavy on mine, but I still don't see how that could send me back 6 levels in performance while in the same D-league.

Because if your slow and strong they just wrap up your legs and you have no momentum to plow through anyone.

Yeah, but that doesn't explain how I'm doing worse against teams that presumably have been losing their higher-level players since last season.

your doing worse....because while everyone else is pumping thei attributes, your pumping SA's way too much.

basically they got better and you didnt.

While comparing any stats in D-league is pretty worthless, there were changes in the game last season that adjusted the efficacy of what we were doing with powerbacks last season.

Yeah, my powerback is pretty worktless this year as well.

As for the build, there's no reason why he should be as disappointing as he is this season. The constant nerfing after every season this game has gotten really frustrating.

I've had fairly consistent broken tackles - has anyone done a comparison of in-game energy and performance? I'm pretty much full energy due to splitting equal time with another back, so I'll hypothesize that fatigue is the issue for most powerbacks since they're taking a bigger hit running thru the pile of defenders rather than around them.

All speculation however.

I'm not breaking any tackles at all this season except on kick returns. That being said, my lack of speed is actually helping me this season. Looking over my replays, my lack of speed is allowing the FB to engage linemen, then linebackers. I just walk behind him and let the Center or Guard pull out in front. I'm getting 5-6 yards a pop going slow as hell. The speed back on the team gets equal yardage, but it's just because he gets from point A to point B so quickly. He just ends up running right into LBs though because the FB can't keep up.

So basically, the strength isn't helping me at all. The lack of speed is though. I should have just used my points into agility and carrying.
