Be interested in hearing anyone's conjectures, beliefs or links to anything already stated about the WR receiving and carrying bars.

What attributes effect each bar? Do attributes solely effect one or the other or are there attributes that effect both bars? Do they effect them equally?

My unsubstantiated opinion:

I'd like to think that there are major attributes that are tied to each bar.
Receiving: Vision, Catching and Jumping
Carrying: Speed, Carrying and Agility
I'd like to think that in Bort's vision of possession receivers people will load up on the receiving attributes while the speedster types will load the carrying ones.

Reason being, in Possession tree there is an SA to boost jumping, a few to boost catching and I'd like to think one of those has to boost vision. Route run in the tree is for people who have low speed and agility, like you should purposely neglect those two areas if you want a possession guy and use route run as the equalizer.

Speedster abilities only enhance speed, agility and hypothetically carrying?

Yes, vision, jumping, carrying, agility could all effect either bar, but that would complicate things putting to many things for WRs to concentrate on.

I would be interested to hear what other people think in regards to the bars because quite frankly, I'd like to figure out "code" or "key" to making the best receiver possible in terms of what Bort intended. I rank this up their with trying to figure out the "creation" of the human species.

speed, agility and vision affect both bars differently. who knows, maybe strength and confidence affect the bar(s) ever so slightly?

QFT

I do not think spd/agi effect the receiving bar at all or very little (definitely effect carrying)...when I slow built my rcvr the receiving bar did not move until i started working on catching...

Visc, are you listing these by what you think bar takes into account or by what you think a WR needs to have to be effective in those areas? Does the catching bar look different on Usain Bolt or is it the same as a level 1?

I'm there with Chicago TRS, I haven't seen my catching bar move at all from just speed and I plugged a lot before starting other attributes.

Chicago, how much agility did you put in the bar before switching to catching? Softcap or less?

Jack, I could see vision, agility and possibly jumping or carrying effect both bars slightly, I'm just not convinced on the speed part as my receiving bar didn't move from just speed.

Interesting stuff guys, keep it coming. I like what I am seeing for the most part, people have put vision and agility as potentially effecting both bars which I could completely see, I even wonder if jumping had effects on carrying such as hurdling defenders or high stepping over diving tackles?

Just need warbucks and knudlen to comment and then that should be all the usual suspects.

I have seen my receiving bar move from raising my speed and agility. Though you guys are right that speed/agility contributes to the receiving bar just about as much as it contributes to a kicker's kicking bar. It helps slightly, but you'll be lucky if you ever get a chance to witness the bar move after putting SP into it.

I'm listing them by what I think the bar takes into account. I also think that the bars are affected by what major attribute you soft cap first.
I'm just basing a lot of this on my slow build WRs.

Ves Velker has 53 catching, 48 agility, 43 speed and has a 42 receiving bar and 36 carrying bar.

Possession is 9/10 has 50 catching, 48 agility, 19 speed and has a 36 receiving bar and a 27 carrying bar.

The Athlete has 25 catching, 33 agility, 66 speed and has a 42 carrying bar and 30 receiving bar.

softcapped agility...probably the last points I will ever spend on agility.

I know for a fact that Vision affects the receiving bar, it seems a few posters left that one out.

Recently, I had 3 SPs left over on one of my WRs; I added them all into Vision, and watched as the Receiving bar went up 3 points.

My opinion:

Receiving: Catching, Vision, Jumping
Carrying: Speed, Agility, Carrying

I also seem to remember Agility causing my Receiving Bar to go up, but I can't say for sure.

What I've noticed.

Carrying rating involves, but not limited to: Carrying, Strength, Agility
Receiving rating involves, but not limited to: Catching, Agility
