I'm a pretty confident guy when it comes to GLB builds, but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing with my DT... I made this DT under the impression that high strength+high strongbase=at least a little bit of pass rushing ability, or something...

Here is his build:

If there are any of you out there that still are experiencing success rushing the passer from the DT spot, what suggestions do you have?

Thoughts are welcome from anyone of course. What should I do with my DT to make him more productive, vs the run or pass, or during field goals, or even when making dinner?

I think his build is pretty, but my 1.167 tackles per game don't really back that up, lol.

DT SA's blow, I will not invest in them. You need more speed and agility.

Much more speed and agility to be a pass rusher. My DT had 91 strength and 60+ agility and still couldnt rush the passer. I recently changed equipment to put more of it on agility and ill let you know how he does next game.

More speed and agi

Strength prevents holes from being opened and eventually gets through, but you won't quickly overpower any half decent guards, and the linebackers behind you will get most of the tackles because you're occupying blockers. Go for strength to have a strong team rush defense with low stats yourself

Agility gets around blockers relatively quickly to get hurries and some backfield tackles, but risks leaving a hole open with your blocker free to pick up a linebacker for big gains

Speed turns your hurries into sacks, and lets you chase down the occasional running back on a sweep

Speed+agility is the plan fwiw. My next levels will be going towards 2nd softcapping both of them...

I appreciate the advice, and any further advice is welcome of course.

Also, what would you guys consider more important, speed or agility? I have 70 base strength, so would you suggest an equipment (22 pts) respect into one of both of speed/agility?

Also do you guys find high shed block to be important, or is speed/agility alone enough to get past blockers?

Honestly, I think the missing thing is just Speed. I bumped my speed up to the soft cap and I'm finally getting production out of my DT. He's leading the league in hurries right now, but the more I keep bumping speed, the more productive he's going to be. I have all of my equipment so far in Strength, but I think I'm pretty much done w/ it for now ... I'm a DT, not a NT, and eventually I think Strength just doesn't have enough of a benefit. It's more of a reactive skill - ie something that you do just to prevent getting pancaked, as opposed to a proactive skill like speed/agility

My speed has been soft capped for a while now and it doesnt help with rushing the passer at all. Although Im going up against Guards 5-7 levels higher than me.

I think speed helps with rushing the passer because, atleast with my DT, I can break through the line pretty consistently but I don't seem to have the speed to avoid the RG from coming over and catching me/catch the QB when he's running straight backward away from me.

I wish It was that easy, I really like the team im on though, and even though our team is outleveled, we consistently do damage in the playoffs, already winning a couple championships.

How does that vision work for you? Did it help or do you think it was a waste?

I pumped my 4 levels from this year into strength, vision, and strong base. Im 1 sack away from breaking my single season total and ive been doing it against guys that are either my level or above. If you are still having trouble, maybe look into vision.

I am curious as to whether its Buccs speed and agility that is causing the success rather than vision.
