The play above was run against us over and over during our last game, and we could not stop it at all, they gashed us for 297 yards on the ground.

Any AI improvement I can make to stop the exact play above, all other types of runs we could stop, but this one killed us.

Anyone know what formation that is? Or any blitz configurations that could help vs. it.

Thanks

There's too many plays out of the Strong-I to really exploit it.

However, you can get away with a strong shift, cover 1. That's about as good as you can do. That looks like a damn good team you were facing, at first glance. Not really much you can do. They'll still get some of those off tackle runs working even with the shift. All you can do is mitigate it.

With out going into to much, I'd say run a cover 1 run focus w/short coverage, strong side shift with the possibility of blitzing both the SS and SAM backer. Now you could just blitz one or the other and that would be fine but if you blitz both, it should bring the SS into the box and move the Sam and Mike over on top of the TE. looking something like this:

TE.RT
S.M....w..........CB1

SS

..........FS

Your problem is your SS....you need to be in Cover 1...otherwise your SS is gonna take his first steps back into his zone before reading run....

Or blitz your SS...

That's an I-formation play, not a strong I play.

Agree with the others, too many plays out of the strong I to just stack the off tackle run but you can limit the damage by doing a strong side shift with the right defensive formation and blitz scheme (be careful with this though, or you'll get burnt on the pass plays)

Since they fixed run blocking, I have not seen a "magic bullet" for the strong I run play. Your best bet is to have good personnel at LDE and NT, and of course at Linebacker and SS.

I guess that's sort of like real football, eh?

I would say all out blitz! every player blitzes!!!

looks like you need to stack the box on short yards, blitz the MLB and LOLB, play man

Doesn't help. TE is heading for the LOLB anyway and RG/FB pick up the MLB. So run focus and blitz get them right into the arms of the blockers.

If you blitz SS and LOLB, and it's not a run. You're TE will be wide open. Just blitz the SS, LOLB will respond quick enough.

Cover 1, Strong Shift, blitz either the SS or LOLB, stack the box and cover short.

The LDE is also getting worked. Need a good run stuffing LDE to help out a but more w/ off-tackle runs.
