All PPE players, coaches and owner - please do not take offense to this. It is just something I do in our forums, and I like to post them on here from time to time just to give everyone something to read.....you guys played a great game, and you will have a great season.
It was a beautiful day in Minnesota today. The sun was out and you could smell football in the air. Preseason was over and the regular season finally started today. The PPE fans were out in full force for this game and the parking lot was littered with BBQs and tail gate parties. As the fans walked past me on the way to the stadium you could see the look of confidence in their eyes..............and why shouldn't they, they have beaten the Battalion every time they have faced them. Would today be any different? Not if you asked anyone in that parking lot.
For the first time in Battalion history they were playing an away game to start off the season. They had a fantastic season last year finishing 14 - 2, but fell short in the playoffs. After a dismal preseason, people from around the league began to wonder if the Battalion still had any juice left in the tank.
Minnesota had just come off an impressive year themselves, sporting a 13 - 3 record and they were also the first team to beat the Battalion 31 - 20 last season and brought the undefeated season of the Battalion to a hault.
The fans had just finished filing into the Stadium as the Battalion began to fill the visitor's tunnel to the PPE stadium.
The fans let the Battalion know how they felt about them with a sudden barrage of boos and other obscenities as the Battalion black and orange uniforms emerged from the tunnel. Tim Crusher and Rashad Clark led the team to the visitor's sideline, as the Battalion's newest defensive addition - Warof Attrition waved his hands in the air for the fans to get even louder - it seemed to be music to his ears.
Just as the Battalion finished huddling on the sideline, the stadium went berserk as the hometown favorites took the field, this town loves their team and were definitely anticipating a big win to start off the season.
Both sides sent their captains to center field for the coin toss. Aneksi Nefer and Bam Bam Willis represented the Battalion for the toss. Willis won the toss but elected to kickoff.
moments later the ball was in the air and the game was underway. Christie booted the opening kickoff 67 yds.. It was returned 28 yds by Benny 'The Jet" to set up PPE with their first drive of the game.
PPE managed 10.5 yds on the drive but they were stopped on 3rd and long when Steele Curtain deflected the ball en route to PPE WR Stedlan.

The Battalion began their first drive from their own 20 after a 58 yd punt by Mike Drago. On 3rd and 10 Tim{ was picked off by Darren Nelson on the Battalion 29. This lead to the first score of the game as Mother Love-Bone punched it in from the 1, giving PPE a 7 point lead.

But before the fans could even enjoy the moment, Tim hooked up with Ken Cota on this 45 TD pass to tie the ball game.

After a 3 and out on the PPE's next possession, the Battalion put up another 7 with this 75 yd TD pass to put the Battalion ahead by 7.

And just like that the Battalion had taken the lead and quieted the Minnesota fans.
PPE put together a good drive on their next possession and got themselves into FG range, but were knocked out of FG rnage after this sack from WarOf Attrition.

Just as the Battalion looked as thought they might run away with this one, the PPE picked off another pass and set up a 27.5 FG to make the score 14 - 10.
The 2 teams then traded possessions until Tim Crusher hooked up with Andre Jett on this 59 yd TD pass to put the Battalion out in front by 11

PPE again stalled on their next drive but got a break when Blazing Gun fumbled a punt return and PPE recovered it. But the Battalion defense came up big and held PPE to another FG.
After a few more exchanges, the Battalion drove back down the field and capped off a 60 yd drive with this precision pass from Tim to his younger brother Slim Crusher.

With the score 27 - 13 in favor of the Battalion the PPE once again started a good drive only to be stopped by another sack from WarOf Attrition

Then picked off on the very next play by Frank Ackerman

The Battalion wasted no time in capitalizing off the turnover as they marched 60 yds and capped it off with this 3 yd TD pass from Tim to Andre Jett
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=150145&pbp_id=1168959
Unwilling to let the Battalion walk away with this one - the PPE drove the ball right back downfield and put up another TD with a 60 yd drive that was finished off by this .5 yd TD run by Mother Love-Bone.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=150145&pbp_id=1169163
But the Battalion came back with yet another drive of their own and put together a TD drive that culminated in this 34.5 yd TD pass from Tim to Jett.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=150145&pbp_id=1169578
The Battalion defense cam up big as Rashad Clark came up with this big 1st down saving tackle on 4th down.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=150145&pbp_id=1169777
With the game well in hand and a half empty stadium, Tim decided to put one more into the endzone when he once again hooked up with his brother Slim Crusher on this 23 yd TD pass.

The Battalion had finally done it - they beat PPE for the first time in franchise history. In typical Battalion fashion, they simply began to walk off the field. As they entered the tunnel, you could here the familiar chant of the Battalion emanating from within the tunnel - "The Battalion is on the loose, don't try to hide - just sit back, and enjoy the ride."
And with one last wave of the hand from OT Cotton McKnight, the Battalion disappeared into the visitor's tunnel.
