I ask because people always say you need agility and speed at a 2:3 ratio, but my level 6 slow build HB has soft capped speed but only 18 agility and in todays game it looked like he was accelerating pretty rapidly.

The ratio has been pulled out of the enormous ass that is the GLB Rumor Mill. If anything it's someone's personal philosophy. Not saying it's necessarily wrong, but to treat it as a verse out of the GLB bible as so many people do is wrong. I can see where the difference between a 2:3 ratio and a 1:1 ratio could be negligible, but I can also see situations where having that high agility would really make a difference, or even to have agility higher than speed. I think it stemmed from the philosophy of "how much agility is enough to get by?" The exact question people started asking when the "speed nerf" took place.

If your speed ends up 75ish, don't limit your agility to the first soft cap. Assume that this is already what everyone is doing with their players, and take yours to the next level.

My back has been successful with a 1:1 ratio of agility/speed (ignore today's preseason game, used it to confirm that elusive style is still unusable) though I may be increasing speed for a bit.

I use basically a 1:1 ratio.

I think that "first step" REALLY boosts the burst thru the hole. Ever notice that FBs never get that burst.

Thats why I want first step for my FB. I haave agility in the high 50s with equip, so I am hoping it works.

Also I think agility helps "break tackles" because "missed tackles" count as "broken tackles." So if you juke a guy and the defender makes a tackle attempt and misses, then that is a missed tackle for defensive stats, and a broken tackle for the offensive stats.

I am not 100% sure, but it is a good theory.

Those were against guys like half your level. If you played against a team that was your level, I dunno if you'd be quick enough for those kind of plays. what's your speed/agility?

The team he played is irrelevant in this discussion. His acceleration would still be the same no matter who he played..

His acceleration wasn't absolutely horrible, but it wasn't that great either. A 70/60 hb will move a lot more fluidly and look less like he's running on rails.

Level 24 runner.

Once I get outside of the tackles and start heading towards the corner (level 29 for the obligatory "lower level than you" guys), I maintain the same speed from that time on even after Cecil bowls over the corner and safety.

An even ratio of speed/agility seems to work fine by me.

What we should do is post some HB plays and have people guess their speed and AGI, and then tell what they really are.
Then you got an impartial point of view without being influenced by what you already know

I went to go check Sam Hester's level, and his build was open, LOL. But I would've guessed about 60 speed / 40 agility. Though if I had taken into account what I thought your build tendencies as an owner might be I'd have guessed that at least both were soft capped.

This is against a horrible, low level team.
