really hate my de constantly hitting the gap

Vision makes a DE hit the quicker gap, and agility gives you the ability to get around the OT through the gap. Speed gets you through that gap quicker.

Also, your defensive coordinator can have a lot to do with how the O-line responds...

how does the defensive coordinator control how the o line responds?

also do you think I should softcap vision before I put any points into tunnel vision. Right now vision is around 25 and SAs are at 0.

By the types of defenses he (or she) calls. The O-line will move differently with different defensive looks and particularly with different blitz packages.

I dunno if I buy that for the LOT

at any rate, what's a good "package" to get the RDE to go around the outside?

its a combination of vision and positioning of the OT. If the OT has inside leverage your DE will take to the outside.
