Is coverage Distance:

1. How far the defender plays off their assignment?

or

2. How far they drop back to get into their assigned zone?

I believe it's 2. I think coverage distance refers to how far they drop into their assigned zone, and I've also been told this applies only to the safeties.

Cover 1 will bring the safeties up close, and really helps getting the SS on the opposing TE.

Someone could correct me on this maybe, but I asked this awhile back myself and that's what I got from it.

I believe in terms of how far the player plays off the assignment, that's up to the player's individual tactics in terms of aggressive, medium, loose. So you need to let the people you gameplan for know what you need out of them, and also if possible have them post on that same thread letting you know the adjustments were made.

As far as I know, the distance on the AI will determine how far off the line they will start the play. Basically how far of a cushion they give the defense at the START of the play. Once the ball is snapped, each players individual setting takes over.

The "Cover X" determines what defense the CBs and Safeties play. Man or Zone. The X is the number of players in a zone.
Cover 0 = No zone, all man.
Cover 1 = FS zone.
Cover 2 = FS/SS zone (split the field left/right)
Cover 3 = FS/SS/CB2 zone
Cover 4 = FS/SS/CB1/CB2 zone

The players will backpedal to a certain spot and then wait for the receiver to make a play. When you see a CB get burned on a fly play by a guy he can keep up with for the rest of the game, it's generally because the cover distance was short or medium, not because of the CBs build.

I believe that in GLB Cover 3 is FS/CB1/CB2 zone.

And I thought GLB Cover 3 was FS/SS/MLB
