If there is anyone out there successfully running a 3-4, I would like to take a look at your AI, if you're willing. We're trying to set up a solid 3-4 on our team and we're having some small issues.

Thanks!

We've had off and on success with it in scrimmages.

Sometimes it's really good, other times teams ran run all over us. Still got some tweaks to work out.

I haven't run a 34, but played against a couple. Seems to be solid against the run and terrible against the pass if you blitz a lot (the whole point of the 34, LOL). Not blitzing leaves 8 guys in coverage, so that should work out well stopping the pass.

It's actually the opposite. 3-4 is better for passing defense. 4-3 is better for running defense.

Fail.

If you blitz in a 3-4, you still have the same amount of defenders dropping back.

Unless you're stupid and blitz 2+ LB's every time.

It also depends on what linebackers you blitz. you blitz the ROLB and RILB at the same time your just asking for trouble, especially in a 3 wr set. or blitzing the LOLB and ROLB, that lets the TE have a party out in open field. just hope your SS can stop him.

You can blitz the OLBs and not let the TE have a party.

I meant the LILB and LOLB

I run a 3-4 exclusivelly now and have seen improvemts in the rush defense and pass defense. TFL and PD are up in percetages and stoppages of long runs have dropped also. Against larger stronger lines only puting 3 DL up will leave3 more defenders who are more mobile and can react better. you've got to assign which LB does what. for each situation. and if you shift a direction.
Also, blitzing one LB is no diferent than having a 4-3. blitzing a crash in the 3-4 is the best blitz when you bring the safey up in man coverage.
