Forum > Team Press Releases > Think you can run a team? Here's your shot?

Here's the deal. I bought a team to see the other aspects of the game because I had the flex handy. Also, another message board to be social on would be good for me since I've been living on a small Japanese island of 2500 people for the past 3 years.

I don't plan on being a gets-in-the-way owner. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to be around and here everyday, but I'm also new to the game. So, think of me as the rich foreign business man who bought a team because he likes sitting in the owner's box. If the GM wishes, I'll build a non-glam role player to add to the team.

Here's what I want our team to be and what the GM should to focus on:

1: Being competitive. Winning matters. That said, if you have the vision of running a team that is friendly for lower level players, that's fine with me. I want it to be a fun team.

2: Financially responsible and playing it straight. I won't sit back and watch my team get raped of its players and cash for the benefit of someone else. The Beach Boys are not a farm team or a dumping ground for contracts and players from other teams. In fact, I'd rather have my GM not be a GM or owner of another team to help prevent the temptation. I'm looking for new talent, or experienced talent, that wants a shot at executing their vision.

What you will get:
I will give my GM access to all privileges. The only one I might override you on (more of a tinkering curiosity) are stadium issues. However, if you see me doing something stupid with prices, I'll gladly listen to your input and learn from you. As the GM you can get anyone you feel you need to win. You don't have to worry about me trying to stock the team with my current players, and I hope you won't use the team solely as a place for your players to start.

Let's have an actual team, not just 5 people with 10 players each. So, the challenge is, if you think you can build a winner from scratch prove it in Honolulu.

I'll make my decision based off your answers to these things;
1. What is your vision of the team? By vision I mean things like what is the team identity, our strategy, and how and how you plan to execute it.
2. Your experience (breadth and depth of your GLB knowledge)
3. Favorite college and pro football team.

Team: Honolulu Beach Boys, USA BBB #12

Hi, I would like to be the GM for Honolulu Beach Boys.

1. An active team (emphasis on the team forum) with players who actually want to be on the team, as well as being a champion.
2. I've been a player since day 5, also a GM for a USA Pro League (5-2 since I came).
3. College - Oregon ducks
Pro - Denver Broncos

Other info: I won't trash your team, as you can see I only own one player and thats all I need. I also will not make any decisions without consulting with you first, I believe an owner should at least know what's going on with the team.

Oh I don't know...if I was applying for the position that big I would certainly spend more then 2 minutes writing a response. To each their own I guess.

Man, if I had the time and effort, you are exactly the type of guy I would want to GM for. Of course, it's midnight here, so I'm not exactly full of gumption right now. Maybe I'll give it a shot later... I've always had the goal of GM'ing in mind, and you sound like a great owner to work for. And I'm definitely with Shtanks in wanting to post something quite hefty, since the job is more than deserving of it.

Unfortunately, this post is going to bump the thread to the top of the list, and there will be applications everywhere... Let's hope that they at least take a suggestion that has been mentioned twice...

I'm on for extended periods every day, love watching the full replays of the games (if only it wasn't so laggy ) and doing research to develop my own two players. I'm not a GM or owner of any other team.

I don't feel like I should, like the guy above me, sum up my resume in a two minute post, but if I'd be given consideration I'd be open to an interview or test of some sort.

I actually have a pretty clear vision of what I want to try to start in a team, (I was considering buying my own) but I was asleep when the teams came online and they were all gone by the time I woke up.

To the three posts above me, posting in the forum is just an introduction. I don't think anyone would want to read an entire essay in the forum just to make the servers even slower, their is no deleting button, I think it'll piss off the admin and moderators don't you think???

If you want to give out a full "+2 minute" resume you can send the owner a pm. So don't demote your fellow players because he/she didn't take the time to post something with more value in the FORUMS.

Also I'm sure the owner will pm the GM potentials if he has more questions; the man asked for the three answers so you answer them, not posting some excuse for not wanting to answer the questions.

From my experience hiring a DC, those first few responses were exactly the kind of responses I got. So no, I don't think it was just an introduction. Hopefully they were smart enough to follow up with a P.M and a FULL explanation, however I have my doubts.

I would absolutely love to GM a team on GLB and I think I would be the perfect man to do the job for the Beach Boys.

1. I would like to make a run oriented team with a very fast defense. I see from alot of the championship teams in the leagues that a heavy running game is more productive than the passing game at this point of GLB. We need a fast D to control the run and prevent the deep pass. I would like to make sure that all the players on the team are involved, both in the team forum helping each other and advising new teammates and with training their own players. I would strive for consistancy Im a big fan of building from within and think team chemistry and everyone having a fair shot of playing time provides a much better experience than simply constantly looking for the highest rated free agent. keep the players happy and you keep them involved.

2. I have three players on two teams. I try to help out my teammates by reading the forums and keeping up to date with the changes and enhancements being made to GLB. This is a new game and is constantly being upgraded and improved. The key to success is going to be staying informed of the capabilities the site provides us with.

3. My favorite college team is FSU I was recruited to play there until Concussions (7) ended that dream for me. And my true passion in life besides coaching highschool football is the Dallas Cowboys you may argue their contention as America's Team but they have always and always will be MY team.

All I can do is assure you that given the chance, I will do everything within my power and within my knowledge of the game of football to make the team, owner, city, and most importantly the players proud to be affiliated with the Hawaii Beach Boys.

I'm going to wait until Thursday evening (US time) to make a decision because I'll be going to bed about 10AM EST. I've been living in Japan for the past 3 years (only 3 months left) so I'd like to give people some time to respond. Don't let my current living situation alarm you, it doesn't hinder my ability to play on the internet at all. In fact, I'm in a position where I spend anywhere between 10 to 16 hrs a day online (with 90% of that being free time). I'll be around during the evenings and early mornings for now. So, feel free to PM anytime before 8PM EST on Thursday. I'll make my decision shortly after that.

As far as what I'm expecting in PMs. Just answer the questions in whatever depth you feel is necessary for me to understand your vision of what you want to do and how you think we can get it done. Desire and a dream are how great things usually start. I'm offering you the opportunity to "Just Do It!"
