You guys hunkering down for Hurricane Ike? I just got back from the store with some essentials. Two 18 packs of miller light, 2 bottles of wine, and a 5th of crown.

So if anybody sees a white guy in his underwear sitting on his roof who looks like he is drunk, send some help. Or more beer, whichever you prefer.
.
Oh and here is to finally getting rid of the Katrina "victims".

I feel for you guys. I am from Louisiana and have not been able to get home since I left for Gustav on the 30th of August. We will be finally heading back on Saturday. I hope I will be able to make it to my home on the coast to do the repairs I know are waiting for me. I wish you all the best and I hope your homes make it thru this ok.

Thanks odie, but I think we will be okay. We are about 90 mile from the coast and of course the media played it up. Now they are saying it is only going to be a cat 2 and possibly only a 1. So chances are we only get tropical storm winds where I am at.

Only job were you still get to keep it when you fail 50% of the time? Thats right weathermen. Well now the prediction moved back up to cat. 3. So we will see. Either way I will be in a hot tub drinking a crown and coke as it starts to roll in.

Just be carfeul and stay safe guys. This storm is even wider in scope than Katrina was. You will be having nasty weather even 90 miles in for a long period of time. I do hope all goes well and our thoughts and prayers are going out to you all in this period of extreme weather conditions. Stay safe.

Yep it is getting ugly. Hope the rest of you guys are on the north side of houston. That storm surge is unreal. Galveston will just about be wiped out. I have a townhome in downtown houston that is pretty much guaranteed to flood. I am about 90 miles from the coast and they are expecting 75-100 mph winds. We should see some serious storm in 8-10 hours. Hope everyone is safe and I will see you guys on the other side.

Still hanging in there. Just started our memorial to galveston. Put on Glen Campell's Galveston. I felt bad after katrina because I had been to N.O. so many times, but when it hits this close to home at a place you have vacationed, fished, had your wedding at, know friends and family with beach/bay houses there, it is a totally different impact. Worst thing about it is Hurricane is just now hitting there sad.gif We still have a long way to go.

yeah galveston's not looking too good the last i saw (i've barely watched the news though). i'm just wishing it would hurry up, i'm too stubborn to get worried but when it knocks our power out i'm not going to be a happy camper. on the bright side, i'm pretty fuzzy already so i might be outside nekkid and chucking empty bottles at whatever comes this way very soon.

I know this may come across as being insensetive, but I hope everyone makes it out all right from teh storms nailing that coastline once again - on the other hand, would you perhaps consider moving inland after this year?! I mean damn...it's obvious that even after Katrina, no-one's still ready for anything to happen again, and it already is...

Besides that, you're all gonna have to move inland anyway within 50 years if we don't halt our production of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. 25 foot sea level rise will make for a lot of coastline being...simply gone.

Who let the retard in here? Are you serious? The United States was built on coastal cities. Let me just name a few to help you out: New York, Boston, Miami, New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Fransico to name a few. So you really aren't coming across as insensitive, more or less coming across as a dumb ass.

Anyways the update for those of us that our just North of Houston. Wind as continually picked up as the evening has gone. Power keeps flickering on and off. The rain has just started and it seems to be another 2-3 hours before we really start seeing the heavy stuff.
